History

Summit Ergonomics was founded in 1991 by Ernie and Jan Miller as Jaymil Ergo & Office Solutions. Through hard work and a customer-centric attitude, Ernie and Jan quickly became the pre-eminent resource for ergonomics in northern New England. At a time when ergonomics was just coming becoming well-known, Ernie and Jan were missionaries preaching the benefits of standing at work and proper sitting for healthy computer use.

After 17 years, Ernie and Jan sold Jaymil to Mike and Diane Kind. Jan retired from the business and Ernie continued to work to see the transition through to completion. Jaymil successfully survived the great recession of 2008-2009 and then thrived for many years under Diane’s tireless leadership. Mike was able to rejoin Diane after his consulting commitments finished and together they were able to bring the company to the next level.

In 2016 David Bernardi was brought in as President and the company was renamed and rebranded as Summit Ergonomics. Ernie retired from the business at age 70 and Diane is now enjoying her time as wife, mom and grandma to her 4 grandchildren. Mike is now relishing his role as CEO of MKIND Inc, the parent company of Summit.

Summit continues to be the pre-eminent source of ergonomic products in the northern new England and has expanded its geographic reach and product capabilities under David’s leadership.
